However, Zambia's greatest asset are its people. They are a friendly and peaceful people. For this reason, Zambia has never experienced any traumatic civil unrest. There is no gun violence in Zambia. Foreigners find it easy to interact with them. Zambia's friendly and peaceful culture has its roots in its Christian heritage. There were many missionaries who introduced Christianity to Zambians over a century ago. However, the most famous of them, and the one who had the most impact, was Dr David Livingstone, the famous Scottish missionary. Livingstone brought the gospel to many people in the land and developed a very good relationship with the people. Hence, when he died, the people removed his heart and buried it under a tree in Zambia and sent the rest of the body to Britain. It was a befitting burial for a man who had endured so much to bring the gospel to the people of this region. Dr Livingstone can truly be said to have been the first apostle of Zambia and its most famous.

On 29 December, 1991, the newly elected of Zambia at that time declared Zambia has Christian nation. Later on Zambians integrated the declaration into the constitution. Zambia is officially a Christian nation with tolerance for other religions. The religious freedom of Zambia allows a person to practice the religion of his choice while having the obligation to respect other people's right to practice the religion of their choice. After the declaration of Zambia as a Christian nation she experienced a revival which brought many of her citizens to Christ.
